SAN FRANCISCO - United States citizen and Falun Gong practitioner Dr. Charles Lee was released after three years imprisonment in a Chinese labor camp on January 21, 2006. Upon his release, Dr. Lee returned to San Francisco. Dr. Lee's unjust sentence in China had drawn worldwide attention and criticism.
Lee has recently notified the press that both he and his relatives in China continue to be harassed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Lee has reported that since returning to the United States, on separate occasions, his car had been vandalized and his cell phone had been stolen. The police in China have visited his family many times where family members have been verbally harassed and told to advise Dr. Lee not to continue his opposition to the CCP.
Lee told reporters that when he traveled to China in January 2003, he had planned to reveal the facts concerning the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the CCP. Upon his arrival at Guangzhou Airport, he was immediately arrested by the CCP and was illegally sentenced to three years in Nanjing Prison. Lee reports that he experienced physical and psychological torture while imprisoned. He said that the tortures he endured served to strengthen his confidence in his beliefs and helped him to more fully realize the evil nature of the CCP.
"My parents and relatives were very distressed over my imprisonment", said Lee. "They were aware of the thuggish nature of the CCP."
When Lee's mother fell critically ill, the CCP delayed his request to visit her and attempted to use his desire to be with her at this time to coerce him into denouncing Falun Dafa. Strong international pressure forced the CCP to finally grant Lee's request, but it was too late. By the time Lee was allowed to see her, she had passed away.
Lee's mother had died from leukemia which was first diagnosed in 1994. Most people with this disease die within five years. The fact that she had lived for an additional ten years was considered a medical phenomenon. Lee's only consolation was that he had sent his family money throughout the years which had helped to greatly improve their quality of life. As a result, his mother led a relatively comfortable life before she died. State controlled media, which for years has concealed the evil tactics of the CCP, continue to discredit Lee and his family.
"The latest harassments by the CCP are just another example of their total disregard for basic human rights and international law", said Lee. Relatives in China are also at their limits of tolerance toward the CCP. Family members slandered and harassed by the CCP are attempting to use the legal system to regain reputations lost as the result of false statements made by the CCP. In response, the CCP has again unleashed its thugs who continue to harass both Lee in the United States and his relatives in China.
Lee required great courage to travel to China and reveal the facts of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the CCP. He also required great forbearance to survive three years of torture in a Chinese prison. "The ruthless and wicked nature of the CCP is a well-known fact", said Lee. "They cannot be trusted".
The CCP's latest threats and attempts to discredit Dr. Lee and his family serve no other purpose than to expose the evil nature of the CCP.
