CHINA - Gao Zhisheng, who has been on and off hunger strike and under intense police surveillance for over 100 days, believes he sees a split in the rank and file of the Chinese Communist Party regime. Based upon his own case of persecution and harassment, which started when he announced a nationwide campaign for democratic change and the end of human rights abuses in China, Gao has a theory that head of state Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao represent a moderate faction within the otherwise draconian regime. He thinks that Hu and Wen are opposed to the rampant human rights abuses being inflicted on the Chinese people by the Party, but are under pressure from powerful factions within the Party establishment to support the policy of suppression and torture.
According to Gao, among those leading this murderous faction is Luo Gan, the Political and Legislative Affairs Committee Secretary of the CCP.
"Luo Gan is trying to frame me as a Falun Gong practitioner—or at least as an active Falun Gong supporter," said Gao. "They think that most of the people who contact me are Falun Gong practitioners and so I must be one as well. In fact, I don't maintain any contact with Falun Gong practitioners, because I don't want to endanger them."
He said that the upper-level police must be lying to the low-level officers to make them believe that he is a Falun Gong practitioner and thus even more worthy of persecution. In fact, Gao Zisheng is a Christian.
Gao explained that the only way people can see him is by appointment, and he refuses to book appointments with Falun Gong practitioners. He very much supports their cause and opposes the ongoing persecution against them, but knows that Falun Gong people don't lie or try to disguise themselves to avoid arrest. He knows that if they were to visit him, they would quickly be exposed and face arrest and subsequent torture. Gao doesn't want that on his conscience.
The Vendetta of Luo Gan and His Gang
In Mr. Gao's opinion, Luo Gan, Zhuo Yongkang, Li Changchun and their gang represent a particularly hateful political faction within the Chinese communist regime. As he puts it, "These people all carry much hidden hatred. They are different from Hu and Wen. They, more than other Party cliques, have the blood of the innocent Chinese—those brave ones with personal conviction to speak out for the freedom of all Chinese people—on their hands."
He implored Hu and Wen not to be controlled by this evil faction saying, "You [Hu and Wen] should have a clear understanding of this issue. You cannot let these people control you."
In Gao's view, the continued persecution of Falun Gong and religious minorities, and the recent crackdown on dissidents and democracy advocates is an attempt to further embroil Hu and Wen in the Party's dirty campaign of suppression and torture. These people want Hu and Wen to have as much blood on their hands as possible, so that it is harder for them to lead the Party in a new direction—as Gao believes they secretly wish to do.
"The recent rumour is that the Chinese communist regime will again implement planned mass-suppression of democracy advocates and intellectual dissidents," said Gao. "The decision to take this step is rumoured to come directly from Luo Gan and his cronies. It seems obvious to me that it is all part of a power ploy to further tarnish the images of Wen and Hu and to, in effect, make them easier to control."
He added that the head of state and prime minister need to wake up and realize how they are being manipulated, and take action to turn things around before it is too late.
Anyway, Gao said that Luo Gan should know that the Chinese people are aware of what is going on. They can see the trends and they can sense what is coming and why. He thinks that Luo and his buddies are truly arrogant and stupid if they believe that their machinations are hidden from the eyes of the Chinese people. No, in Gao's view, the Chinese people know exactly what is going on. He warns that Luo and his faction are playing a dangerous game.
Gao has publicly encouraged both Hu and Wen to write something, or somehow come out to the public about their actual intentions. He feels that they should trust the Chinese people to support them in breaking away from the degenerate Party line.
Gao believes that he owes the level of comparative freedom that he enjoys, despite his active dissidence, to the behind-the-scenes-support of Hu, Wen, and other secretly pro-democracy elements within the Chinese communist regime's leadership.
He said, "I personally would still like to stress that my current moderate freedom—in my heart, I think it is the result of efforts of compassion on the parts of Hu and Wen. This is what I personally recognized it to be. Other people, the people around them do not have these compassionate thoughts, and furthermore do not have this desire. In fact, most of them would like nothing better than to see me quickly put to death."
He added that, "The fact that my phone hasn't been completely cut off, and that I can still see media members from abroad outside my office—I feel that Hu and Wen have done some work and made some effort."
As for Luo and others, Gao is sure that they and their actions will eventually be judged by the world's people, and they will pay for their evil deeds.
Gao mentioned that the 100 plus days of his standoff with the Chinese communist regime has been particularly hard on his family.
