A group diverse in age and ethnicity gathered in front of Denver, Colorado's City Hall at lunchtime on Tuesday, February 14, for a press conference to announce a week of participation in the Global Relay Hunger Strikes in defiance of the Chinese Communist Regime. The group held banners and the hunger strikers took turns with the microphone explaining the relevance of joining in the non-violent protests.

"By participating in the global hunger strike, I hope that the heightened awareness of this issue will alert the Chinese Communist Regime that the world is closely watching its every move, and it should cease its irrational acts of violence used to maintain its grip on power," said Cary Dunst, Epoch Times staff member from Denver.

Human rights activists and lawyers within Mainland China organized the hunger strikes earlier this month to peacefully protest the corrupt and lawless nature of living under the Chinese Communist Regime. The Denver participants joined in the global effort after learning of the violent burglary and attack against The Epoch Times newspaper's Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Li Yuan at his home in Atlanta on Wednesday, February 8.

It is widely acknowledged that those responsible for the attacks are special agents and spies of the Chinese Communist Regime because the attackers stole two laptop computers and personal files while leaving behind more valuable items such as jewelry and a camera. The motive is clear since Dr. Li is among a team that maintains the Epoch Times websites in thirteen languages that report honestly about the crimes of the Chinese Communist Regime in sharp contrast to the State Owned Chinese media outlets. Perhaps even more sensitive, is the "Tuidang" (Quit the Party) website that Dr. Li maintains for those who wish to renounce their membership to the Communist Party. Thus far, more than 8 million Chinese have used this tool to withdraw.
