Prominent advocates for human rights, democracy, and freedom in China will hold a forum on November 10 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.
In addition to some better-known personalities, recent Chinese defector Mr. Jia Jia will participate via internet-linkup from a safe location in Thailand.
Jia, Secretary General of the Science and Technology Experts Association of Shanxi, is highest ranking Chinese official to openly support the movement to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) while still at his post. He defected on October 22, and has been seeking political asylum since.
Titled China's Global Strategy and Inner Crisis, the forum will address issues such as China-North Korea and China-Africa relations, PRC foreign policy in general, social unrest and social movements in the country, and human rights.
The keynote address, "A Closer Look Into China," will be delivered by Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, European Parliament Vice-President. McMillan-Scott is the founder of the European Democracy Initiative.
Renowned China Democracy Advocate Mr. Wei Jingsheng will speak on China's strategy in Taiwan, North Korea and Japan.
