The Dow Jones industrial average was up 20.82 points, or 0.17 percent, at 12,177.59. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 3.73 points, or 0.27 percent, at 1,386.57. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 14.49 points, or 0.61 percent, at 2,390.37.
