Famous Democracy Dissidents Publicly Withdraw from CCP
"The Nine Commentaries is China’s hope ... Withdrawing from the CCP fortifies one’s morality and justice"

By Xin Fei
The Epoch Times
May 29, 2005

Despite the Chinese government’s continued attacks against people who publicly withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the Communist Youth League (CYL), the numbers of withdrawals have continuously increased. More than 1.8 million people have withdrawn from the CCP, the majority of whom are from Mainland China. The “Nine Commentaries” is widespread across the mainland among people from all walks of life. It has even made its way into remote villages.

On May 25, Xin Fei, reporter for The Epoch Times, interviewed several famous democracy dissidents, including members of China’s Democracy Party.

The dissidents either withdrew from the CCP and the CYL or expressed their support for the “Nine Commentaries.”

Mao Guoliang: "I feel very lighthearted after my solemn declaration to quit the CCP."

Mao Guoliang, a famous dissident from Zhejiang province, asked The Epoch Times reporter to help him publish his declaration of withdrawal from the CCP:

“I joined the party in 1985. At that time, the country encouraged renowned intellectuals to join the party and it was at that time that I was added to their rosters. Although I made a declaration to quit the CCP in 1989, I paid for it with imprisonment. Now I want to make my own declaration again because the only people who really knew about my withdrawal then were in the university. Now I am making my declaration to the whole world: I formally withdraw from the CCP."

Mr. Mao clearly sees the importance of withdrawing from the CCP. He went on to say that the withdrawal campaign is peaceful and rational. It doesn’t involve weapons and it awakens people’s consciousness, promoting the advancement of China’s democracy. High levels of the Party will be influenced by the accumulated effect of people’s resignations from the CCP. The more people resign, the greater the impact. He said that Ceauşescu in Romania had just held an important Party meeting, but was executed the next day after he sent an order to repress the people demonstrating in the street.

Mao Guoliang believes that the number of people withdrawing from the CCP will increase until it collapses. He said that over 100 million people, including family members, have been directly or indirectly victimized through the CCP’s political campaigns. If they all stood up, the effect would be overwhelming.

He gave the example of a bystander who, instead of simply watching a gangster assault a group of people, dares to step forward and confront him. Once one person steps forward, others gain confidence and step forward too, until they outnumber the gangster and he runs away.

Offering advice he said, “Many people have already given up their illusions about the CCP. Good people turn into bad people after joining this organization. People who were not tyrannical become tyrannical, those who were not illogical become illogical.

Mao Guoliang expressed his opinion that the “Nine Commentaries” was written very well, systematically elucidating the CCP’s evil nature. The CCP is just as cruel to its “enemies” as it is to its “comrades." It always treats people cruelly no matter whether they are part of the party or outside the party. What has been previously written about the CCP has only focused on the party’s superficial or nonessential phenomena. He believes that in contrast, the “Nine Commentaries” is systematic and profound.

Hu Junxiong: "Withdrawing from the CCP is wise; those who joined it have been victimized."

Hu Junxiong, head of the Huang Gang sector of China’s Democracy Party, asked the reporter to publish his declaration of withdrawal on The Epoch Times’ Tuidang website:

“I knew very early on about the CCP’s atrocities and I had intentions of withdrawing from the CCP from the beginning, but I didn’t have the courage to do so. I was in Beijing in 1989 and after I came back I intended to withdraw from the CCP, but I didn’t have enough courage. I really regret not doing it. My compatriots, I am sorry. After 1989, many intellectuals withdrew from the CCP in Hubei province, but I didn’t have the courage to break free from the CCP. They ended up dismissing me anyway. I confess this with deep regret.”

Hu Junxiong shared a personal experience: ”At the beginning when I wrote my Party membership application, they told me that my application had been disqualified because I didn’t write ’strive with my whole life for Communism’ towards the end of my application. The branch secretary told me to write it as required but I refused.”

Mr. Hu said that it doesn’t matter if one resigns from the CCP using a real name or penname. Either way it is a wise thing to do. The CCP is an evil party. Joining the CCP is not useful in any way and many people did it with wrong intentions. Many are victims, including those who are considered excellent members. Any person wise enough to consciously withdraw from the CCP is admirable.

The campaign to withdraw from the CCP has been greatly successful. The crux of China’s problem is that Chinese people still haven’t awakened and “continue to live in darkness.” If the Chinese people were to all wake up, then the CCP would have no way out.

Hu Junxiong thinks that the “Nine Commentaries” is well written and speaks directly to people’s hearts. It says what people have not found the words to express. It has greatly helped the Chinese people know the truth. The “Nine Commentaries” has had a large impact on those inside and outside the country, enlightening many people. Everyone Mr. Hu knows has given positive feedback.

“You don’t have to take to the streets and demonstrate. As long as people have read the "Nine Commentaries" they will know the truth. If people have read the "Nine Commentaries" then China still has hope.”

Lu Xinhua: "The influence of the "Nine Commentaries" has spread to the countryside."

The founder of the Hubei area China Democracy Party, Lu Xinhua, announced his withdrawal from the Communist Young Pioneers (CYP).

He states: “I hereby formally resign from the CYP. When I was younger, I was very naďve. I was excited to make my vow under the red flag. Now I understand that I was deeply deceived by the CCP. In the past it was difficult to withdraw one's belief in the Communist Party. Even today, it requires much courage to withdraw. However, the sooner this is done, the easier it is overcome any fear or apprehension.”

Mr. Lu believes that the current withdrawal movement is significant. Unlike similar incidents in the past, this time the public has taken note of the CCP resignations. He said that even his small village has been affected.

He said that he felt happy and light after reading the "Nine Commentaries."

He lives in the countryside and from that vantage point has seen the deception and cruelty of the CCP. China’s social security and welfare system is only accessible to a small, privileged group and peasants do not benefit from it. Currently, many local mafia groups have captured land from peasants using the excuse that they are developing real estate. The taking-over of peasants’ land has become more and more common in the countryside; all the farm land in his village had been taken over. Peasants who have lost their land also don’t have access to the social welfare system. They now have nothing.

Shen Jizhong: "Withdrawing from the CCP fortifies morality and justice. It is highly significant."

The famous dissident from Shanghai, Shen Jizhong, said that he has never joined either the CCP or any of its related organizations. He has spent all 72 years of his life at the bottom rung of society. He has firsthand experience with the hardships of the poor. His own hardships and pain have given him insight to fully comprehend the evilness of the CCP.

He points out that withdrawing from the CCP is an excellent way to break through the CCP’s grip, and that the non-violent withdrawal movement fortifies the movement's moral foundation. Mr. Jizhong adds that The “Nine Commentaries” reveals the truth, exposes the evil and helps us to better understand the society and ourselves. It has made contributions to both China and all of mankind. He is certain that more and more people will join the movement.

He believes that withdrawing from the CCP removes the stain of history. “Most of us who are adults are no longer members of the CYP and the CYL, but it is necessary for us to acknowledge history and eliminate the disgrace and evil the CCP forced on us. Only by doing this can we analyze ourselves; purify our hearts; better understand our surroundings, country and fate and find the solutions appropriate to our future and country.”

He pointed out that resigning from the CCP stimulates people's conscience and kindness. The entire public is waking up and their awareness is much more powerful than any weapon. He believes that compassion is a fundamental aspect of human nature. With our compassionate effort, more and more people will realize the truth, join the movement, advocate for democracy and fight against the CCP’s tyranny. He feels confident that this movement will soon end the CCP’s evil tyrannical regime.

Mr. Shen used to tell the policeman who monitored him: "I feel strong because I am not here for myself. Even under the most difficult circumstances, I still feel confident and strong because my life is not mine alone, and that is one of the best aspects of our nation and culture.”

He Yongquan: "Everyone has the right to quit the CCP."

He Yongquan, a famous Shanghai democracy dissident said: “I never joined any CCP organization because the CCP thought my family belonged to the Five Black Categories, not because I was aware of the nature of the CCP. At that time, it was impossible for people with “bad political backgrounds” to join any CCP organization.

“I have heard about the movement to withdraw from the CCP. If I were a member of the CCP, I would have resigned long ago. This movement is very powerful and has had a profound impact. We support this movement and believe that everyone has the right to quit the CCP.

“The Nine Commentaries is very objective and comprehensive. It explains many issues.”
