At the rally before the parade, Mr. Wei Pengfei of MIT, the renowned writer of
Unveiling the Yuan Hua Case, Ms. Sheng Xue, and a dozen other well-known Chinese and western scholars and human rights activitists gave speeches.
Before the rally, there was a minute’s silence to mourn the 80 million people the CCP has killed in the last 60 years. Ms. Sheng Xue said in her prologue, “The Chinese people have been enslaved [by the CCP]; when the days of suppression end, Chinese people will have free thought. It will be a day freedom breathes and fear vanishes, and this day starts from today.”
The Democratic China Front president Fei Liangyong extend his respect to those first million brave warriors who withdrew from the cult of the CCP and called the CCP’s destiny an omen. He said, “The red sky of despotism has died, the blue sky of democracy stands.” Mr. Fei Liangyong pointed out that, without the CCP, there will be a new China.
Ni Yuxian, Chairman of the Party for Democracy and Freedom in China, said that the evil CCP relies on violence and deception to maintain its position. It has killed over 80 million citizens and it has harmed the human spirit more than any political party in history, including the Nazis. Mr. Ni Yuxian said that the people’s awakening and participation would hasten the CCP’s collapse and allow it to leave the stage of history as soon as possible.
Investigate the Responsibility of the CCP
Mr. Tang Baiqiao, chairman of a Chinese peace organization, expressed that the Chinese people have unceasingly forgiven the CCP’s crimes, but the CCP and its regime have unceasingly used violence to shatter the people’s fantasy. When the CCP initiated the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in 1999, it lost the last opportunity to reconcile with the Chinese people. He pointed out that society’s development awaits the rise of justice, but unprincipled tolerance of the CCP’s actions will make it more unscrupulous. Mr. Tang appealed for people to be responsible to the movement that investigates the essential responsibility of the CCP and bring it to justice.
Former department director of Politics at Taiwan University, Professor Meng Juzheng, said, “We need morality, justice, and conscience to represent China, not a seemingly strong façade. The later generations eulogize the prosperous Tang Dynasty for its morality and reputation, not its great strength to frighten people.”
The China Democratic Party overseas headquarters convener Mr. Xu Wenli said that the Party (CCP) is a dictatorship and will inevitably fail. Mr. Xue said, “The CCP always says others betray the country when they’ve betrayed the most national territory. The CCP always says others are lying when it has lied to everyone. The CCP always says others bring disaster to the nation and the people when it killed 80 million people during peace time. The CCP always says others are violent when it uses tanks to kill youths and persecutes Falun Gong practitioners with tyrannical torture.” Mr. Xu asked, “If you don’t bring about the end of an evil political power like the CCP, when will you act?”
Chinese Business Editor-in-Chief Mr. Wu Fan, Pan-American Bank vice-chairman and CEO Cao An Ju Shi, Professor Xie Tian of Drexel University, and Professor Meng Juzheng initiated the “Chinese free satellite plan” to appeal to global Chinese people to donate money to purchase a satellite to help NTDTV transmit free information to China and break the CCP’s information blockade.
Parade Several Miles Long
After passing through Chinatown, people divided two groups to continue the rally at the Chinese consulate. The parade was several miles long and the front banner said in Chinese and English gold lettering, “Support One Million People Resigning from Chinese Communist Party.” Chinese people from Anhui, Guangdong, Xinjiang, Beijing, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Shangdong, Jiangxi, France, Canada, New Zealand, Poland, Israel, Romania, Germany, Spain, Taiwan, and other twenty more nations and areas followed holding placards showing their regions.
According to the director’s introduction, when applying for permission to hold the parade, the police worried about the large number of people participating. Finally, the New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg made the final decision to authorize the parade.
Alumni from famous Chinese Universities, including Beijing University, Qinghua University, Fudan University, Four Jiaotong University and others who have already resigned from the CCP attended the parade and rally. Medical personnel and representatives from dozens of the nation’s medical colleges also formed part of the parade.
This activity was initiated by Network Digest, Discussion Report website, China Road bimonthly electronic issue, 6.4 Files website, Irish Chinese Fellow Student Association, Safeguard of Women’s and Children’s Rights and Interests Union, International Future Science and Culture Research Institute, Overseas Retired Chinese Servicemen Fraternity, Vietnamese Committee, and 200 more organizations.
The parade contained many models, banners and pictures of The Epoch Times’ “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party” title and title page. Three parade floats showed the persecution Chinese people have suffered from political movements over the years, including the anti-rightist movement, the Great Cultural Revolution, the June 4th incident and the persecution of Falun Gong.
This is the first activity of such a large scale spontaneously held by overseas Chinese. Parade participants held various banners to express their message. The content of the banners included: “Only without the CCP can there be a new China;” “The CCP does not equal China;” “Return my China, return my freedom”; “Communism is the most exploitative cult in history;” “With clear heart and seeing eyes, refuse to be the CCP’s scapegoats;” “One million Chinese say bye-for-good to the CCP;” “Resign from the CCP to guarantee safety the day it disimtegrates.”
100,000 Copies of the “Nine Commentaries” Distributed
After the parade entered Chinatown, they followed the main street to Union Square, then Times Square and finally the Chinese Consulate. Along the way, they shouted out in English, “CCP, shame on you!” and “Resign from the CCP!” and “Overthrow dictatorship! Put the CCP on trial! Bring on democracy! Safeguard human rights!” Many Chinese in Chinatown stopped to watch the parade, while some people passed out the Chinese version of the “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party.” After passing Chinatown, the parade passed mainly American communities. Along the way, many westerners took the English version of the “Nine Commentaries.” After hearing about resigning from the CCP, people expressed loathing for the CCP’s evil and feel that the CCP should perish soon. People on the streets shouted out, “Come on! For your rights!” and shouted the English slogan along with the parade participants.
The Epoch Times printed 200,000 extra copies especially to introduce the situation of the CCP resignations and to gain support from people everywhere to the world. The Epoch Times also printed 100,000 copies of the English “Nine Commentaries,” which were completely distributed in one day.
Many other areas around the world are currently holding similar parades to support those in Mainland China who have resigned from the CCP. To date, there have been 1,050,000 people who have resigned from the CCP.
