The “Maintaining Advancement” Movement is the CCP’s Desperate Attempt to Save Face

The Epoch Times’ “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party” exposed the nature of the Chinese Communist Party and its sham pretense. People who had been deceived by the Communist party have been steadily resigning from and denouncing the party. On March 7 alone, more than 20,000 people posted their withdrawal statements on the Epoch Times website, and by March 8, the total number had reached 180,000.

Sources close to the CCP say that the sense of crisis within the party intensifies daily. In response to the mass withdrawal of support, the CCP has initiated the “maintaining advancement” movement, which requires its members, including hospitalized patients and retired elders, to reaffirm their dedication to the party.

The National People's Congress and the Chinese Political Consultative Conference continue to be full of grand, but empty, words, while CCP officials secretly seek advantageous ways out for themselves. They have established a new party slogan: “establishing a harmonious society,” while at the same time CCP officials continue to flee to other countries, transferring their capital to secure locations abroad, a fairly clear case of “take the money and run.”

Another abnormal phenomenon is that high-ranking CCP officials, who claim to be atheistic, are frequently seen visiting temples, burning joss sticks and seeking out the Buddha’s blessing.

Six hundred thousand police covered streets and alleyways around the conference site in Beijing. According to the Free Radio Asia report, the areas surrounding the conference site became off-limits for ordinary people. On Tiananmen Square, protestors were arrested and searched. On the morning of March 7, more than 2,000 people were arrested and detained at the Tiananmen public security sub-bureau.

Despite the strict security measures, there were still people who plunged into the Gold Water River at Tiananmen Square to protest, along with dozens of others who rushed into the registration hall.

The CCP has put a strict ban on the Nine Commentaries, while at the same time exerting pressure on its members to support the “maintaining advancement” movement. It is trying desperately, and failing, to come up with a way to maintain its eroding support base. In mid-February, more than 200 high-ranking officials from across the country gathered at the Beijing Central Party School to share ideas on the matter.

It was out of this meeting that the “maintaining advancement” movement was born. Fifty-eight director groups were dispatched to 31 provinces and districts to supervise the promotion of this new party line. In Guangzhou, 400,000 CCP members were forced to watch videos of a special training class for “maintaining advancement”.

The Chinese Ministry of Public Security estimates that approximately 500 corrupt CCP officials have fled overseas, taking with them combined assets of US$8.46 billion. The corrupt officials have thus established an escape path for others to follow: Transfer capital, send family members overseas, prepare passports, abuse their power to enrich their pockets, quit their job without notice and obtain legal resident status overseas.

A Reuters report states that the Chinese procuratorial agency investigated more than 43,000 officials suspected of corruption last year. Among them, nearly 3,000 were punished for corruption, and more than 600 officials in hiding were arrested.

The situation is clearly becoming a dire one for the top leaders of the CCP.

Jiang Zemin, the chief culprit of the persecution of Falun Gong, frequently goes to temples in mountains, including the Zhantanlin Temple on the Jiu Hua Mountain in Anhui province, the Wu Tai Mountain in Shanxi province and the White Horse Temple in Luoyang, Henan province.

Asia Times reports that in 2004, Jiang and Chairman Jia Qinglin of the Political Bureau of the CCP Central Committee and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference went to the Nanputuo Temple in Xiamen, Fujian province to burn joss sticks and worship the Buddha one after another.

State Councilor and Secretary General of the State Council Hua Jianmin and his wife, former Vice Chairman of the Political Consultative Conference Hu Qili, and former Procurator-General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate Han Zhubin all went to the Nanputuo Temple in February.

The recent phenomenon of high-ranking CCP officials seeking blessings from gods and Buddha is a confirmation of the ancient saying of “Clinging to Buddha’s feet with one’s last breath.”

Former U.S. Vice Assistant Secretary of State Mark Palmer remarked that the moment the number of people who had withdrawn their membership from the CCP reached 100,000 marked a significant moment in Chinese history.

One Web user, Mr. Hebin reminds us that mice know when disaster approaches. In English, it is said that rats will desert a sinking ship. It is not difficult to deduce that the CCP will soon collapse while all of its high officials flee the country in plain sight.
