Chinese reform advocate Dr. Jiang Yanyong is reported missing in Beijing after suggesting that the National People’s Congress admit to the mistakes that happened at Tiananmen Square on June 4, 1989. His wife is believed to be with him.
Dr. Jiang’s daughter, Jiang Rui, living in California said, “We are all Dr. Jiang Yanyong’s children. We urge the Chinese government to investigate our parents’ missing case in Beijing.”
According to Jiang, her parents’ neighbors in Beijing witnessed the couple leaving their home on June 1 at 9:00 a.m. to go to his former employer the No. 301 Hospital of Chinese People's Liberation Army, but never returned.
Jiang Rui said when they asked the hospital about her parents’ whereabouts, we only got some ambiguous reply saying that they were safe. “We don’t want to speculate what happened to our parents, but we believe that No. 301 Hospital of Chinese People's Liberation Army is intentionally hiding something from us.”
The retired Chinese doctor is well known for exposing the SARS epidemic. During the National People’s Congress sessions in March this year, Dr. Jiang wrote to the People’s Congress and the central committee of the Communist Party suggesting that they correct their decisions on the June 4 movement in 1989. He asked the Chinese Communist Party to admit their mistake to crackdown on the June 4 protesters at Tiananmen Square.
