Japanese restaurateur Naoki Takahashi has tapped chef Jiro Iida (Salt and Charcoal, Aburiya Kinnosuke) to head the kitchen at his new restaurant Naoki in Chelsea. The restaurant serves a tasting menu for $80, excluding dessert, that includes hanakago (eight types of appetizers, served in a basket), as well as a second and third course (from hamachi and salmon tempura to grilled lobster in uni sauce). MakiMaki

The new fast-casual restaurant MakiMaki serves traditional made-to-order sushi rolls, and for the first time in the United States, teas from 800-year-old Japanese company Hon Yama. Sant Ambroeus Coffee Bar at The Hanley Building

Sant Ambroeus Hospitality Group is opening a coffee bar, with drinks, soups, paninis, and breakfast pastries at The Hanley Building.
