Your Brain Needs Downtime

Mental downtime is necessary for your brain to function at its best.

Research shows that “when we are relaxing or daydreaming, the brain doesn’t slow down or stop working. Rather many important mental processes seem to require what we call downtime and other forms of rest during the day. Downtime replenishes the brain’s stores of attention and motivation, encourages productivity and creativity, and is essential to both achieve our highest levels of performance and simply form stable memories in everyday life.”

We can create opportunities for deliberate mental breaks within our everyday activities. A walk, meditation between meetings, taking a lunch break, etc.

How about a break right now?
