66-pitch perfect game: Michael Strem, a pitcher for St. Francis School in Mountain View, California, threw 66 pitches and struck out eight batters in the first perfect game in the school’s history.
Strem pitched in a May 15 game as his top-seeded team beat 16th seeded Monta Vista 2-0, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
The pitcher for Monta Vista, Peter Stern, nearly matched Strem. He gave up the game’s only run in the sixth inning, and allowed three hits and walked three.
