PERTH, Australia—Councillor of the City of Gosnells and member of its Performing Arts Committee, Cr. Julie Brown decided Shen Yun Performing Arts was a performance that was too good to miss.
She saw the New York-based world’s leader of classical Chinese dance and music company at The Regal Theatre in Perth, May 3.
“I was very excited to be here tonight. Oh, it’s just brilliant, just wonderful and all the dancing is lovely. Very vibrant, the colours on the costumes are just lovely.”
She appreciated the entire presentation just as described on the company website, “In less than ten minutes each, Shen Yun dances recount ancient myths, bygone heroes, or celestial paradises. Whether set in the past or in contemporary China, every dance embodies traditional Chinese values.”
“Very, very good,” Cr. Brown said, adding how wonderful it would be if Shen Yun could perform in her city, because “it brings the culture in.”
Gosnells celebrates its multicultural community in citizenship ceremony, food fares, and more as such festivities were important as “it helps integrate people,” Cr. Brown said.
She was intrigued by the digital backdrops, a feature that takes its onlookers to different realms, according to the website.
And Cr. Brown was particularly surprised when the dancers jumped over the edge of the stage and appearing on screen and “zoomed off” into the distance.
“That’s really well done and the timing is really good, and the vibrancy of all the [performers].”
Shen Yun’s digitally animated backdrop creates the effect that the stage performers fly to celestial realms and back to earth.
Cr. Brown recommended the performance as a show “too good to miss.”
She also commended the Shen Yun artists for a job well done. “Keep up the good work, you’ve done a marvellous job,” Cr. Brown said.
