Andre Roxx Didn’t Attempt Suicide, it was Christ Bearer, AKA Andre Johnson: Reports Say

Andre Roxx, a rapper affiliated with the Wu-Tang Clan, did not attempt to kill himself. It was actually Christ Bearer, a rapper from the Wu-affiliate group Northstar, reports said.

Christ Bearer, born Andre Johnson, also mutilated himself before he jumped off a balcony on Wednesday, TMZ reported. Northstar consists of two members, Christ Bearer and Meko, who are from Southern California.

TMZ originally reported that it was Andre Roxx who made the suicide attempt, but the website changed it and said it was Johnson. Other news websites followed TMZ’s original error and haven’t made updates.

“The rapper who cut his penis off and jumped off his balcony is Christ Bearer, a member of the rap group Northstar.  Members of the group who also live in the apartment building tell TMZ … they were there early this morning when Christ Bearer suddenly — without warning — cut his penis off and jumped off the balcony.  They say they were not on ‘any hard drugs that would cause him to do such a thing,’” TMZ said in an update to correct the error.

Los Angeles Police Sgt. William Mann told CNN that it was Johnson, aka Christ Bearer–not Roxx.

Officials told the website that he was trying to commit suicide when he jumped from the second floor of an apartment building in North Hollywood.

Johnson landed on a sidewalk and sustained critical injuries. He was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at around 1 a.m. local time on Wednesday.

Neither Roxx or Johnson are part of the original 10 members of the Wu-Tang Clan.
