Managing Director Finds Shen Yun’s Skills ‘Unbelievable‘

BOSTON—Mr. and Mrs. Wilson both thought Shen Yun Performing Arts’s dance and music performance at City Wang Theater was beautiful.

“We enjoyed it completely,” said Mrs. Wilson.

Mr. Wilson, a managing director with a leadership coaching firm, and 28-year veteran vice president in HR for a multinational financial services corporation, said the proficiency of Shen Yun in so many different areas is unbelievable.

The New York-based Shen Yun presents classical Chinese dance, “a complete system of dance embodying traditional aesthetic principles with its unique dance movements, rhythms, and inner meaning,” according to the company’s website.

Shen Yun’s varied dances are accompanied by the Shen Yun Performing Arts Orchestra, a unique blend of Western and Chinese instruments. A state-of-the-art digital backdrop, vivid costumes, and music soloists round out the presentation.

“It is mesmerizing watching the dancing with the music—beautiful,” said Mrs. Wilson.

Mr. Gary Ferrari, an electrical engineer, said the talented Shen Yun danced perfectly in unison. “It was very good,” he said.

Further, Shen Yun enlightened him more about where Chinese culture came from, and a little about the Chinese characteristics, which he described as quiet.

Forbidden in China

Harriet Wilson and Rachel Wilson both really enjoyed the performance. They both noted the loss to China due to the fact that Shen Yun is forbidden in China. The Communist rule there has aimed to destroy traditional Chinese culture.

“It’s unfortunate that it’s not permitted in the current culture in China,” said Rachel Wilson, a surgeon by profession.

She added that Shen Yun’s “message of peace and understanding and incorporating a lot of different values as well as tolerance,” was nice.

“I would like to thank [Shen Yun],” she said. “It would be nice of they could perform at home.”

Mr. Wilson also said that “it seems a shame it can’t be performed in China.”
