Revealed: New Godzilla (2014) Pictures

Empire Cover Shows a Return to Classic Monster

Fans who are eagerly awaiting the remake of cult-classic Godzilla got their first good look at the monster of the new movie.

From the new retro-style Empire cover, it’s clear that the Godzilla of this movie will be very close to the original 1954 kaiju.

It also marks a departure from the Godzilla of the 1998 Roland Emmerich remake, which resembled more a sea monster.

The Empire cover is the first proper close up of the new monster, by director Gareth Edwards, after the film company released a poster showing Godzilla leaving a trail of destruction (pictured).

Godzilla features Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass), Ken Watanabe (Batman Begins), Elizabeth Olsen (Silent House), and Juliette Binoche (The English Patient) are starring in the film, with David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck) and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad).

A second movie trailer was released this weekend, although it featured very little new footage.
