Lil Boosie in Jail for Child Support 30 Minutes Later Over $80K Article is Satire; Rapper is Out of Prison

An article claiming that rapper Lil Boosie was put “back in jail 30 minutes” after he was released over $80,000 in “back child support” is satire.

UPDATE: As of March 4, Lil Boosie was released from prison after spending five years behind bars. But a fake article on a “satire” news site in mid-February claimed he was sent back over child support. The article again started getting viral traffic on Thursday, March 5.

The fake article was published on Cream Bmp Daily, written by comedian Cream. The articles published on the website are fake, and there’s no shred truth to them.

“Lil Boosie was re-arrested earlier today after an arrest warrant was issued for unpaid child support in the amount of $80,000 dollars minutes after his release from prison,” the hoax article reads.

The fake report, which has a number of grammar and punctuation errors, also includes a fake quote from the mother of one of his children: “‘I wanted to let him see his kids right before I took them away from him again.’”

Cream Bmp has a disclaimer saying it’s satire.

“This website is comprised of satire and parody of current news and urban culture. For entertainment purposes only,” the disclaimer states, adding it is written by “comedian CREAM.”

A number of people on Facebook and Twitter thought the Lil Boosie article was real and widely shared it.

“I kno he aint worryin bout dat after all da time he just did.. im still happy..boosie still happy,” one person wrote on Facebook.

Another person, who apparently believed the satire, wrote: “Firstly Boosie been locked up since like 09 on drug charges and was facing 1st degree murder charges therefore im quite sure he had to pour most if not all his money into his defense attorney. Secondly [come] on any good mother knows who’s really suffering from this, the kids.”

Lil Boosie, born Torrence Hatch in Louisiana, has been in prison for the past several years after he was convicted of drug charges.

He is slated for release sometime in 2014, but recently, his release date was pushed back, reports said earlier this month.

“Just received confirmation that Boosie will not be getting out of jail next week. However, his release is imminent — most likely in March,” wrote Jeff Weiss of LA Weekly on Twitter on Feb. 7, 2014. Weiss had spent time interviewing the rapper in prison in the past.

Weiss added: “A parole board hearing was scheduled for Boosie next week but was canceled, because it didn’t make sense considering his release is so soon.” He later wrote, “Boosie still has to finish up some classes & then his release date will be officially re-calculated — tentatively, he’ll be home in March.”
