Walking Dead Season 4 Spoilers: New Preview, Predictions From Cast and Director

The Walking Dead season 4 episode 9 premiere date is coming up, and new spoilers and preview hints have been revealed by some of the cast and director Robert Kirkman.

Let’s check out what they said:

What Will Happen?

“It’s all of our characters scattered to the winds. Everybody’s separated and so we’re actually doing a lot of really intense, character focusing episodes,” Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly. “We’re really going to really drill down into them and get to know them much more than we’ve gotten to know them before. I think after the end of these eight episodes you’re going to be acutely aware of who these people are and I think they’re going to be some really shocking revelations about what makes people tick and who they really are at their core.”

Kirkman added that “to some extent this is their darkest period that these characters have gone through yet.”

-On 3 New Characters

Abraham, Rosita, and Euguge are going to be “extremely similar to who they were in the comics,” Kirkman said.

“These people really do look like they were torn out of the comic page, it’s pretty startling,” he added. “But I will say people excited for the introduction of these characters won’t have to wait very long. I don’t want to reveal exactly when they’ll be introduced, but it won’t be too terribly late in the season so get your hopes up.”

-There’s Another New Character?

Kirkman confirmed that there is a new character named Gareth, but wouldn’t say anything more than that.

-Will Lilly and Tara Return?

Kirkman said that Lilly and Tara could pop up again at some point, but didn’t guarantee it.

Spoilers Have Been Laid Throughout the First 8 Episodes

Viewers will learn more about the faint radio signal that Daryl and the others picked up on in the car.

“We will absolutely, definitely learn a ton more about that,” Kirkman said. “I think that the first eight episodes of the season probably deserve a rewatch if you’re really invested in what’s coming up. And when it comes time in a couple of years when you watch all of season 4 as a whole there are so many hints and so many little breadcrumbs thrown out that are going to be paid off in the back half of season 4 that people are going to be shocked at the things that they didn’t notice.”

-Daryl May Stick with Beth

Daryl may or may not stay together after leaving the prison together, Norman Reedus told EW. Daryl does assume that everyone is dead and that he’s got to start over.

Baby Judith’s Fate

Kirkman emphasized, as he has before, that the bloody car seat indicates that things aren’t looking very good. Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) added to EW that Rick and Carl believe that she is gone.

-Hershel’s Spirit Lives on, But Rick’s Going Through a Tough Time

“Hershel was a father figure and a mentor, he was the bedrock for everybody, he was the moral conscious,” Lincoln said. “I think that Hershel’s spirit lives on always. Everybody that has an impact in your life you carry with you always, but I do think that Rick is in a very low ebb. And I think physically, in episode 9, you’ll see a man who is frightened for the first time in a long, long time.

“He’s frightened not for himself but for his son because he’s weak. He’s very, very weak and that makes him belligerent and aggressively challenging towards his son because he’s scared. So he’s physically weak, spiritually he’s lost, mentally he doesn’t quite know where to begin because he’s just seeing his home demolished. He’s in the worst place he’s been.”
