Benjamin Smith, a New York resident, was arrested after threatening to kill former president George W. Bush.
Smith told Secret Service agents that he is divorced and working on a relationship with Barbara Bush, Reuters reported, citing a criminal complaint.
Barbara is Bush’s oldest daughter. Bush’s mother is also named Barbara, but officials believe Smith was referring to the daughter.
Smith yelled “Bush will get his!” as he was arrested.
Smith had a container of gasoline, a loaded rifle, and a machete in his car.
The man’s mother called police to say that she had found a threatening note in the home she resides in with Smith.
“I’m going to work for George W. Bush and the Pentagon,” the note said, according to the government. “I have to slay a dragon and then Barbara Bush is mine.”
Smith was arrested in Manhattan after police tracked his vehicle.
