Famed Puerto Rican comedian Luis Raul is dead at age 51 after spending several weeks in the hospital being treated for pneumonia.
His condition worsened after kidney failure and breathing complications.
The comedian traveled to New York City and Los Angeles in December for gigs, during which his condition worsened, Spanish language media outlets reported.
Raul had said he was sick because of the cold weather.
Raul was well-known for both his stand-up shows and portraying a range of characters during his routines.
He had his own show on Univision in the early 2000s and hosted “Pa’ Que Te Lo Goces in 2006 on Telemundo.
A range of celebrities mourned Raul’s death.
Actor Lin-Manuel Miranda said via Twitter: “My heart cries. It was an honor to spend time with him.
Baseball star Yadier Molina added that Raul was a “great person” and a “great friend.”
