Former VP with Credit Card Giant Calls Shen Yun Outstanding

ORLANDO, Fla.—Lucy Pulido served as vice president of Latin American Operations for American Express for 12 years before retiring. During this time, she was named by Expansion magazine—similar to Fortune in the United States—as one of the top 20 most influential business women in Mexico.

Ms. Pulido enjoyed New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts so much the previous year, she brought four friends with her to the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre to see the 2014 tour. Together, they experienced 5,000 years of civilization revived on stage through music and dance.

“I brought my friends because I was so incredibly impressed last year,” she said. “I thought it would be good for other people to see it, especially since we are not used to this kind of performance.”

According to the Shen Yun website, a “Shen Yun performance features the world’s foremost classically trained dancers, a unique orchestra blending East and West, and dazzling animated backdrops—together creating one spectacular performance.”

“It was outstanding,” said Ms. Pulido about the performance.

Ms. Pulido said she admired traditional Chinese culture, and she felt that since it has already prevailed for many centuries, it would continue to prevail for many more.

On this night, the Shen Yun Performing Arts World Company demonstrated the traditional Chinese culture, believed to have been passed down by the divine throughout the various dynasties; this is why Chinese culture is known to be divinely inspired.

“The traditional culture is very important,” Ms. Pulido said. “That’s how we know where we came from, and where we’re going, and why people behave the way they do.

“Maybe there is a lot for us to learn,” she said, referring to the values of traditional Chinese culture.

In particular, Ms. Pulido noted the spirituality within the songs of the performance. She said the songs touched her heart, and that most modern songs don’t posses this kind of element. The songs are performed by Shen Yun’s award-winning soloists that use the bel canto technique to sing Chinese text.

Ms Pulido left feeling the performance was energizing, extremely colorful, and educational.
