Shen Yun Is Perfect, Says Business Consultant

MISSISSAUGA, Canada—Everyone is a critic, so goes the saying. But for people seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts, being a critic means sharing their joy and appreciation of the performance.

Zeenat Chohan is cofounder of Guided Futures, a strategic planning consulting company that works with companies and boards of directors. She is also an avid motorcyclist and a ballroom dancer.

When asked what she thought of Shen Yun’s performance at the Living Arts Centre on Saturday night, Ms. Chohan said: “Fabulous costumes, flawless performance. It was so perfect.”

“We will definitely go again next time [Shen Yun] is here,” she said.

Shen Yun left Ms. Chohan feeling light on her feet.

“I’m floating the way the dancers were floating,” she said. “I really, really enjoyed it.”

Also attending the performance was graphic designer Garry Weiler whose work has appeared in business and finance magazines as well as the Financial Times. Mr. Weiler’s photography has also been exhibited at the Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery and at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, formerly known as the SkyDome.

Mr. Weiler said it was his first time to see Shen Yun and praised the work of the company’s own visual artists.

“The visuals really appeal to me,” he said.

He also pointed to the state-of-the art animated backdrops in the performance, which set the stage to different scenes, ranging from heavenly realms to imperial courts.

“I like the backdrops. The backdrops are really nice and clear, sharp, colourful, beautiful scenery. It adds nicely to the live performance,” he said.

Equally impressive to Mr. Weiler were the dance performances as well as the Shen Yun Orchestra, which combines traditional Chinese instruments with a Western classical orchestra.

“I like the music, it’s very good. … The coordination is excellent,” he said.

“[The dancing is] beautiful, they’re very coordinated, the timing is bang on. It’s very entertaining.”
