SpongeBob SquarePants Cancelled January 2014: Hoax Debunked by Nickelodeon

A viral photo that alleges SpongeBob Square Pants was going to be cancelled on January 28, 2014 has been debunked by Nickelodeon.

“Nothing more than a hoax. We’ve got new episodes in 2014 and the movie coming out 2015 :),” Nickelodeon told one fan that said “NOOO” while sharing the photo.

But people are still believing the hoax, such as one Twitter user who said: “So apparently spongebob squarepants is being cancelled… Cheers for destroying my favourite childhood show.”

Responding to Nickelodeon’s debunk, Melissa Nicole said via Twitter:

“I’ve never loved @NickelodeonTV more than I do right now for putting that rumor to rest. I almost cried until I saw that. :’)”

“YASSSS SPONGEBOB LIVES!” added Davey Segal.
