Amira Willighagen, 9, Wows in ‘Holland’s Got Talent’ Finale Performance with ‘Nessun Dorma’

Amira Willighagen, a 9-year-old Dutch girl, gave yet another soul-stirring opera performance on Saturday evening.

She sang “Nessun Dorma” in front of a live audience at “Holland’s Got Talent 2013.” The song is from the final act of Giacomo Puccini’s opera “Turandot.”

Previous performances include “Ave Maria” and “O Mio Babbino Caro.”

Many have compared the 9-year-old to Jackie Evancho, 13, of the U.S., who blew audiences away in “America’s Got Talent.”

Previous videos of her singing have generated millions of hits on YouTube, with many expressing awe.

Evancho also performed “Nessun Dorma” last year.

Lovely but I can’t help but wonder how young vocal cords respond in the long run.

Jackie is still doing live concerts in person with no noticeable ill effects so far!

      • bastalready

        Glad to hear that.

The singer on Holland’s Got Talent 2013 who I think your concern should be directed to is 12 year old coloratura soprano Sofia Asgari who sings Mozart arias. Should she be more cautious about her voice because she sings coloratura?

          • bastalready

Look I’m not here to argue with you. My concern was genuine. I’m done with you.

          • John Culley

I didn’t intend to start an argument. I am a lowly saxophone player who is curious about whether a 12 year old coloratura soprano has to be more careful with her voice if she intends to follow the path of someone like Teodora Gheorghiu than Jackie Evancho or Amira. I actually think all the younger female teachers should have a music teacher before they compete so we don’t lose any voices.

I don’t know the answer to that …and there’s no such thing as ” a lowly saxophone player,” peace.

          • John Culley

Have you ever seen a five foot tall bass saxophone? They make a very deep bass tone.

            Nope

Better quality video here; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlZ_0HMwW2U But anyway: very nice Amira!

  • John Culley

Both these young ladies are impressive. Because Amira was recovering from a cold her voice was a little weaker than Jackie’s but I prefer Amira’s softer pronunciation of the words.

  • John

I find Amira’s voice is a bit too high pitch or loud and doesn’t really blend in with the background music as well as Jackie’s. This is just my opinion. They both sound great. I just prefer Jackie’s singing :D
