Moldovan prison officials captured a suspicious looking cat that entered the facility wearing a collar lined with purple baggies. The authorities released video footage of guards cutting into the baggies to reveal what looked and smelled like marijuana.
“While inspecting protected buildings of the prison number 9, I saw a cat with a suspicious collar that had two little bags attached. I caught it right away and took it to the prison security office. There we took off the collar, and it turned out that these bags contained a green substance of plant origin with a distinctive cannabis smell. The law enforcement authorities have been warned, and the case has been documented,” said Oleg Khumanovsky, a Security Service officer at Puncul Prison No.9.
Officials say this is not the first time a cat was used to smuggle goods into a prison.
According to media reports, earlier this year guards caught a cat carrying cellphones and chargers taped to its belly at another prison.
