NEW YORK—Helen Rogers, who owns a modeling and fashion agency, said her experience seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts at Lincoln Center on April 24 was a fantastic one.
“I’m astounded with the colors and the costumes, and the movements of the girls,” she said. “The coordination and the choreography is astonishing.”
Ms. Rogers and her agency help discover new models and work with actors, for both the modeling and fashion worlds.
She said she found the female dancers in Shen Yun especially beautiful.
“I’m very attracted to beauty, and the girls are just so gorgeous,” she said. One female dancer in particular was so beautiful that Ms. Rogers said she would make a good model.
New-York based Shen Yun presents the 5,000 year old Chinese culture as it once was before the ruling communist regime nearly destroyed the culture, according to the company’s website.
The base of the performance is classical Chinese dance, along with ethnic and folk dance and story-based dance.
Ms. Rogers said that besides the dancing, she loved the orchestra, which combines both classical Western and traditional Chinese instruments.
The performance also left her contemplative.
“Beauty is everywhere, and … we must always strive for the most beautiful parts of life,” said Ms. Rogers, referring to what she learned from the performance.
“Here it is in New York City, it’s a Wednesday evening, and look at the number of people here who are just gaining such beautiful memories and sounds and visions. I just adore it. Both the men and the women.”
