Motorcyclist Kicks Car, Triggers Chain-Reaction Crash on S. California Freeway

A motorcyclist was captured on video kicking a car in a Southern California road-rage incident, triggering a chain-reaction crash.

The incident unfolded on the 14 Freeway in Santa Clarita and resulted in a truck flipping on its roof and injuring one driver.

A gray sedan had inadvertently cut off a passing motorcyclist, the passenger who shot the footage told NBC4, saying “Words went back and forth” between both drivers.

The video captures the motorcyclist kicking the side of the vehicle before the sedan driver suddenly swerves left—possibly in retaliation—then loses control of the vehicle and hits a barrier, tears across the lanes into the side of a Chevy pickup truck, and flipping it over onto its roof.

The driver of the truck was sent to the hospital and is expected to make a recovery, the CHP said.

The motorcyclist is wanted by police for road rage and a possible hit-and-run. In the clip, he is seen accelerating away from the scene.

“Obviously it was a road rage incident. He was kicking the vehicle. We have to get a statement, see what’s going on,” CHP officer Josh Greengard told NBC4.

8 News Now reported that police are still looking for the motorcyclist.

The incident and crash were reported shortly before 6 a.m. on Wednesday near Newhall Avenue, prompting a half-hour closure, officials said, ABC7 reported.
