Spring has sprung, plant sales are popping up, and farmers markets are unfurling around the county as spring turns into summer. The summer solstice is on June 20 this year, and the Farmer’s Almanac advises that only heat-tolerant plants should be planted during the summer months, and they must be watered regularly until fall. It also recommends watering lawns and gardens in the morning or late during the day to avoid evaporation, and removing any dead flowers from  perennials to encourage new growth. Here are a few low-maitenance flowers that are now blooming.
