Flooding in Corpus Christi caused a sewage overflow into the La Volla Creek from the wastewater line near the city’s Greenwood Wastewater Treatment Plant. Officials warned that the discharge of untreated sewage to La Volla Creek may affect the quality of surface waters. Residents were advised against swimming or fishing in certain areas.

The population of Corpus Christi is around 315,000, according to 2013 census numbers.
