Georgia Waiter Feeds Handless Man at Restaurant

Alex Ruiz, 22, a waiter at Cinco de Mayo restaurant in Douglasville, Georgia, went out of his way to feed a man without hands on April 24.

“I saw a man who needed help,” Ruiz told CNN. “I did what I thought was right.”

According to Fox29, the man had no hands and no prosthetics.

So he asked if someone could help him eat a meal.

I said I would help … and from the bottom of my heart I really wanted to help him.

“I said I would help … and from the bottom of my heart I really wanted to help him,” Ruiz told InsideEdition.com through a Spanish interpreter.

Ruiz fed the man shrimp tacos as well as rice and beans. The two sat in the booth for about 30 minutes.

Reginald Widener,24, who took a picture of the kind act and posted to his Facebook page, told IE that though he is not the “most positive person in the world,” the act made him “feel good inside.”

“This seriously hit me right in the soul,” Widener said on Facebook.

The picture has since been shared over 1900 times.

After Ruiz fed the man, he took the man’s money to the cashier and brought back his change, Fox29 reports.

Ruiz then went back to his usual work.

“He just went about his day as if nothing happened,” Figueroa said. “Everyone at work was telling him what a great guy he was. That’s just something you don’t see. A person feeding a stranger.”

Ruiz moved to Georgia six months ago from Chicago.
