Tracy Morgan Performs Stand-up for Hospital Staff That Saved His Life

Actor and comedian Tracey Morgan performed at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, New Jersey, over the weekend, for a very special audience.

Morgan performed his “Picking Up The Pieces” routine before doctors, nurses, and paramedics from the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he was treated for his near-fatal car accident in 2014.

These people are heroes and I love them all from the bottom of my heart.

“Last night was one of the most special nights of my life,” Morgan told People magazine. “To be standing on stage with the people that saved my life in the audience was an overwhelming experience. I will never fully be able to thank the doctors, nurses, first responders and everyone else that got me back on that stage enough.”

The 2014 car crash had left Morgan in a coma, and had killed his friend Jimmy Mack.

“These people are heroes and I love them all from the bottom of my heart,” Morgan said. “The only good thing that happened on that horrible night was that I was close to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital when the accident happened. God Bless them all.”

Robert Wood Johnson Hospital was just two miles away from the site of the car accident.

After the performance, Morgan invited the hospital staff backstage for pictures and hugs.

The proceeds from the show were donated to the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital.
