Family of UK Woman Release Photo of Her Battered Body as Evidence of ‘Cover-up’

The family of Julie Pearson, a 38-year-old Scottish woman who was found dead in Israel, are claiming that a photo (can be viewed here; but contains graphic content) of her battered body is evidence of a cover-up.

Pearson collapsed on November 27 after she was allegedly beaten by her ex-boyfriend Amjad Hatib.

An Israeli report on her death said she died of natural causes, according to the Metro. It said that she spontaneously suffered internal bleeding.

We feel we have no other choice but to let the world see the injuries my daughter sustained as we try to get to the truth of how Julie died.

Her family got the result of her autopsy two weeks ago.

They said that a photo of Pearson lying in a coffin is evidence that she was beaten. They claim she had bruises and cuts.

Stuart Hamilton, from East Midlands Forensic Pathology Unit, said the “idiopathic spontaneous intraperitoneal haemorrhage” term is not a cause of death. “What we have here is describing what’s found but not attributing an underlying cause,” he told the Metro.

“We did not want anyone to see Julie like this,” her mother, Margaret, told the Sunday Mail. “But we feel we have no other choice but to let the world see the injuries my daughter sustained as we try to get to the truth of how Julie died.”

Israeli authorities, they allege, did not properly investigate the assault.

“We wanted people to see what we saw. Her injuries were even worse that what you can see. She had bruises all over her body—her torso, back, shoulders,” her aunt, Deborah, told the Daily Mail.

Deborah added: “It’s so important to Julie’s family, her parents John and Margaret, and Sharon and I that we get some answers.”

Pearson was in the process of becoming an Israeli citizen, but her tourist visa had expired, meaning she was in the country illegally.

Julie’s body was found in a guest house in Eilat, and she a large bruise to her right shoulder, bruises to her chest, her face elbows, arms and torso.
