Blind Coyote Who Survived Getting Shot, Fall and Starvation Gives Birth

A blind coyote was rescued in Southern California by a group after surviving a 30-foot fall into a dried riverbed and much worse.

The coyote also survived dehydration, getting shot, starvation, and poison before members of the Animal Rescue Team rescued the animal, as reported by The Dodo. The not named coyote was shot in the head and somehow survived.

This week, members of the group opened the coyote’s enclosure and found that she had given birth to four puppies.

The group stated: “The female coyote our team rescued from falling into the Mission Santa Inez water shed 6 weeks ago has made a full recovery from the 30′ fall, dehydration, rodenticide exposure, starvation, and being shot in the frontal lobe. Well today while feeding and cleaning her large enclosure, we discovered she is a momma. Four tiny precious coyote puppies were born today at our facility.

“We have a camera installed watching her every move. Although she remains blind, she is the best mother we have ever witnessed.”

When the puppies are grown, they will be released far away into the wild. The blind mother will then be sent to a state permitted wildlife facility.

“We believe she deserves to remain alive,” the group added.
