Cutting out one food item made a huge difference for one U.K. woman, and it might make you think twice about consuming sugary drinks.
Sarah Turner of Birmingham said that she was essentially addicted to sugar, drinking 424 grams of it per day–most of that came via Coca-Cola.
After she stopped consuming Coke, she lost more than 100 pounds.
In all, she was drinking four liters every day. Now, she’s down to about 126 pounds after cutting it out.
Turner told the NY Post:
“I was most definitely addicted to Coke. I could just drink it all day and not think about the effect it has on my body.”
“I was always tired and had no energy to do anything, but now I can take my children out and run round in the park with them,” she added. “I have loads of energy. I love going out walking anywhere, whereas before I never did. I also enjoy actually going clothes shopping — now I can fit in normal-size clothes.”
Turner didn’t replace her soda-drinking ways with vegetables and fruits. The diet she follows allows for baked beans and potatoes.

She told the Birmingham Mail:
“Not being able to play with my children was the worst thing to me – that look of disappointment in their eyes when I said I couldn’t go to the park – it upset me so much.
“It’s literally completely changed my life losing this weight – I can do so much more now and I’ve completely given up Coke.
“I just used to sit on the sofa when the kids went to bed and have a massive Chinese takeaway to myself.”
