The 25-year old rapper was touring with his entourage, and had briefly made a pit stop for some cash on their way to pick up a new Mercedes-Maybach S600.

The confused bank believed Youngsta to have been a wanted check fraudster. Although Wells Fargo made it seem like everything was fine, Youngsta told the New York Daily News he believes an employee must have reported him. The employee had thought he had come to cash a $24,000 forged check, prompting Youngsta’s arrest.

Youngsta was held up for about an hour in the bank’s parking lot as the police searched a black SUV. However, after matching the description of the alleged suspect, police immediately released Youngsta and his crew.

Youngsta admits that he doesn’t have a problem with the police, but he does feel like the bank targeted him because he was young and black.

Youngsta later tweeted on twitter, “Feels good to be legit”, and a video of him flipping through all or at least some of the cash he withdrew from the bank.

He also explained to 11 Alive about why he took out the cash, saying he had a dream to pay cash for a new car.

“My dream I always dreamed about was going to the bank, getting a half a million…and putting the half-million on the dish, like ‘Give me that Ghost right there,'” Youngsta said. He initially wanted to buy a Maybach but is now considering a Ferrari.

The actual forgery suspect, identified as 39-year old Charles Darnell Edward was later arrested and charged with first-degree forgery, according to Sgt. Warren Pickard of the Atlanta Police Department.

Pickard later confirmed that, “This incident did not directly involve Blac Youngsta, nor was he accused of committing a crime.”
