Shots Fired at Georgia Mall, Evacuation Ordered

Police are investigating shots fired at the Stonecrest Mall in DeKalb County in Lithonia, Georgia, on Saturday, according to local media reports.

Even though details are sketchy, 11 Alive TV reported that there’s a line of cars leaving the mall.

The mall was evacuated after reports of shots fired.

Witnesses told 11 Alive that the incident appears to have taken place near the food court. After that, shots were fired. Nearby stores then went on lockdown, according to an employee.

A call for an evacuation was made over the mall loudspeaker, the person said. It’s unclear if there were any injuries or deaths in the incident.

Officers are now stopping vehicles while they look for a suspect, WSBTV reported.

The incident comes just two days after a man was shot and killed inside a mall in North Carolina.

A video of the evacuation was sent to Channel 2 Action News. “A Channel 2 Action News viewer shared this video of mall customers rushing to evacuate one of the stores. (NOTE: The shooting did not take place inside the store featured in this video),” the station said.
