Five Injured in Test Flight Crash of China's New Attack Helicopter

HONG KONG— Information Center for Human Rights & Democracy reported on July 15 that China's newly developed armed attack helicopter, the WZ-10, crashed near Jingde Town, Jiangxi Province while on a test flight. Five people were injured and the cockpit of the helicopter was damaged.

The Information Center quoted a military representative from Changhe Aircraft Manufacturing Company in Jiangxi Province, who revealed that the crashed WZ-10 was the No.5 test aircraft. The cockpit and body were damaged. No one was killed but five were injured. They have been transported to a military hospital for treatment. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Sources revealed that China produced 6 WZ-10 helicopters in 2003. One exploded in a crash in 2003. This was the second crash of the WZ-10. Currently only four Wz-10s test aircraft are left.
