Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice, Says Chinese Government Employee in Open Letter

A Chinese government employee published an open letter on December 6 to Chinese leaders Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao and Wu Bangguo, urging them to bring former Chinese dictator Jiang Zeming and his Shanghai Gang to justice.

The author of the letter, Kong Qiang, works for the Administration for Industry and Commerce Bureau of Qufu City, Shandong Province in the east coast of China.

In his letter Kong pointed out that Jiang and his gang are behind the economic and political turbulences in Shanghai City and other parts of China. He urges the current leaders to eradicate the gang and correct the wrongs they have done. Failure to do this, he said, will drive Chinese people over the edge.

This is the fourth open letter in the past few months calling Chinese leaders to take reformative measures. But it is the first one initiated by a government employee.

“The Jiang's gang has been afflicting China. They are driving people to desperation,” Kong told an Epoch Times reporter. “If we don't do something to curb the gang, China will soon collapse.”

For many years Kong has been standing up for people's civil rights. The 39-year-old former military cadre started the website shenzheng.cn in July 2005 as a platform to help human rights abuse victims. As many stories revealed in his website involved the Shanghai Gang's crimes, the website was forced to shut down over 100 times. On November 20 this year, his website was shut down again; he plans to file lawsuits against Zhou Yongkang, the former minister of Ministry of Public Security, Meng Jianzhu, the current minister, and Wang Xudong, the minister of Ministry of Information Industry for the shutdown.

Kong said he published the letter because he cannot keep silent after seeing so many human rights abuses. He added that he has collected sufficient evidences of the crimes the Shanghai Gang committed.

In an interview with The Epoch Times , Kong reiterated that Jiang Zemin must be brought to justice because he has committed too many evil deeds. He blamed Jiang for the unscrupulous corruption of the Shanghai Gang, and attributed the current inflation in China to Jiang's efforts to contradict Hu and Wen's macro control policy. “Jiang's gang managed to send oil prices soaring in order to irritate the people and apply pressure to Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao,” added Kong.

The persecution of Falun Gong is another horrible crime Jiang Zemin has committed, said Kong. “The persecution is brutal,” he told the reporter. “Falun Gong practitioners' family members are not even allowed to join the army.”

Kong highly commended the lawsuits against Jiang Zemin and his officials filed by Falun Gong practitioners around the world. He said that the successes of such lawsuits in many countries have greatly encouraged him as well as many other Chinese people. Kong noted that, as most victims of the persecution by Jiang's gang are in mainland China, prosecuting the gang in China is inevitable.

In his open letter Kong appealed for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong. “Under the joint effort of the international society, I believe it is not difficult to stop the persecution.”

When asked whether he is afraid, being the first government employee to demand that Jiang Zemin be brought to justice, Kong stated that he had been ready to face all dangers when he decided to establish the website.
