A suspected random killing occurred at a teacher’s college in central China’s Hebei Province on June 8. Local authorities are denying the incident, and the reason behind the killing is still unknown.
According to an insider who declined to disclose her name, a graduation concert for master’s degrees at the School of Music was in progress in the music hall on the west campus of Hebei Normal University.
As the piano duet of two female students was about to end, a man approached the stage holding flowers and then suddenly took out a hammer and struck one of the students several times.
When members of the audience rushed to stop the assault, the man began to hit his own head with the hammer in an attempted suicide. Others immediately rushed the girl to the local hospital.
An insider confirmed the victim died and said, “However, no official report was released, and everyone in the university has been warned not to say anything.”
A student surnamed Liu, from the same university, confirmed that the incident occurred but would not comment further, as the incident has become a forbidden topic.
The Epoch Times tried to contact various departments in the university to confirm the incident but received only denials.
However, several articles on Chinese blogs detail the incident, and there are many speculations about the relationship between the victim and the killer. One blogger said that the killer is a dropout from neighboring Handan University. Some say the killer died as well.
