The lockdown on four schools in Everett outside of Boston because of gunshots fired in the area has been lifted.

A SWAT team and police came onto the scene in mid-morning and as of 2:00 p.m. EDT have the suspect in custody.

A woman who runs a daycare on Elm Street is one of several people who reported hearing gunshots. Police told people in the area to get in their houses.

A mini-van outside a house on Calhoun Street was described as “riddled with gunshots.” Police surrounded a house near the vehicle in which the gunman was barricaded inside.

Later, police stormed the house and took the suspect into custody, reported Jessica Reyes of Fox Boston.

A local resident said on Twitter that Everett has been on “lockout” for three hours.

The four schools include Everett High School.
