Shen Yun fan: 'It's always different every year'

CANBERRA, Australia—People of all backgrounds came to enjoy Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Canberra Theatre on its last day of performances in the nation’s capital on Feb. 18.

The New York-based company treated audience members to an evening of breathtaking classical Chinese dance and music.

Economist Elizabeth Hoyt bought tickets for Shen Yun as a surprise late Valentine’s Day present for her husband, Daniel, a team leader at AGL.

Ms. Hoyt enjoyed Shen Yun’s dances, which tell stories from Chinese legends and history from ancient time all the way to the present, and display ethnic and folk dances from different parts of China.

“It’s been really fun seeing all of the different backgrounds and being reminded of the culture and history, and all of the little Chinese anecdotes are really fun,” she said.

Sheila Dunleavy, a U.K.-based science editor with Dunleavy Projects, comes to Canberra university for a few months every year. This year, she had the chance to see Shen Yun while visiting Canberra. The performance made her feel “Absolutely ecstatic. I’ve always been interested in Chinese culture.”

“This is absolutely fantastic,” she added.

Sometimes, when I am watching, I see real people on the stage, and then suddenly I see somebody flying on the screen. You cannot say what is reality!” (Julia Ye/Epoch Times)
