Hong Kong—Rugby Union Premiership

HONG KONG—In the clash of the two undefeated teams on Saturday Oct 25 at Aberdeen Sports Ground, Leighton Asia HKCC, back to full strength with the return of their Sevens squad players, were victorious over Bloomberg Hong Kong Scottish 41-14. This result pushes them onto 23 points and into a 5-point lead over HK Scottish at the top of the standings after round-5 of -15.

Ex-HK Scottish Flanker, Adrian Griffiths impressed for HKCC with a hat-trick of tries in the first 10 minutes and with successful conversions put HKCC into a 21-0 lead. This lead was extended to 31-6 to HKCC at half time with a further try, conversion and a penalty. HK Scottish got on the score sheet with 2-penalty kicks, but the game was well in the hands of HKCC at the break. In a more even second half HK Scottish added 8-points to push their score to 14 while HKCC added another 10 points to finish winners on 41-14.

Valley vs USRC Tigers
After Valley’s 31-13 loss to HK Scottish the previous week, Societe Generale Valley bounced back to hammer Borrelli Walsh USRC Tigers 64-7 at Valley-8 last weekend. After tries by Salmon Yiu and Max Woodward in the first 8-minutes of the game, both converted by Reece Hamon to put them into a 14-0 lead, Valley lost their way a little and were penalised with a yellow card against Hon Sum Wei and a straight red card to Andrew Kelly.

Losing a player to the dressing room instilled life into the Valley squad and in the last 10-minutes of the 1st half Jean-Baptiste Aldigé ran in two tries and a score by Bejamin Davey gave Valley a firm foothold on the match at 33-0. Valley continued their superiority in the second half finishing with a massive 64-7 score line. Tigers were rewarded for sticking to the task with a consolation try late in the match. This bonus point’s win keeps Valley in 3rd place in the standings on 14-points but 9-points behind leaders, HKCC.

Kowloon vs HKFC
Abacus Kowloon broke the standings points-deadlock with Natixis HKFC with a 23-15 win in their match at King’s Park last Saturday. Tries by Greg Illingworth (2) and Lee Griffiths for Kowloon were countered by a brace by HKFC winger Jordan Cooper.
