An Iranian man was badly injured after a series of explosions in Bangkok, Thai authorities said on Tuesday, according to media reports.
Government spokeswoman Thitima Chaisaeng told the Bangkok Post that a home was rented to make bombs, and investigators found a stash of C4 explosives and remote-controlled detonators.
In the incident, a bomb went off inside the house. Two others fled, police told the newspaper. The man who was later injured attempted to flee and tried to hail a taxi, but it wouldn’t stop for him. Police said he threw a bomb at the taxi, which injured the driver.
Police said he then tried to throw a bomb at the police but it hit a tree and exploded in his vicinity, blowing his legs off, the Post reported. He was later rushed to a nearby hospital.
“The one who is seriously injured is Iranian,” Chaisang told Bloomberg News. “We think the others are also Iranian because they lived in the same house. They ran off and police are looking for them.”
The blasts come just one day after two bomb attacks targeted Israeli Embassy workers in India and Georgia. Israel blamed the attacks on Iran and its ally in Lebanon, Hezbollah.
