A public security officer from China who had witnessed the entire process of organ harvesting from a live female Falun Gong practitioner in 2002 recently provided a vivid account of the incident to investigators from the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG).

By coming forward with the information, this policeman from Liaoning Province provided investigators with the first eyewitness account of the practice. Since 2006 when The Epoch Times first published the story, its own investigations and those of independent researchers have had to rely on forms of evidence other than eyewitness testimony.

After hearing the testimony which recounted the ordeal of a high school teacher in her 30s who had been interrogated, tortured, raped, and finally operated on without anesthesia, Lai Ching-Te, president of the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong-Asia (CIPFG-Asia), called upon the international community to help stop such brutality. Economic concerns should not stop nations from speaking out to end these tragedies, he said.

The policeman, who testified on condition of anonymity, said he thought he would certainly be murdered if his identity were discovered. He said that he told his story in the hopes that other people would also find the courage to reveal what they know about organ harvesting.

He was also deeply moved by the woman’s compassion and forbearance throughout her ordeal.

The woman had been detained because she was a Falun Gong practitioner. The interrogations and tortures were carried out to force her to sign a letter repenting her practice of Falun Gong, a peaceful self-improvement practice that was banned in China in 1999. The witness said that he himself had participated in torturing Falun Gong practitioners for such purposes many times.

Looking Beyond Our Short-term Interests

Lai said that such testimony should clear any doubts about whether these tragedies are still taking place in China. “They are happening right now to innocent Falun Gong practitioners.”

Lai also said that he had the highest respect for that Falun Gong practitioner. “She did not yield even when suffering such extreme torture. When the scalpel slit her chest open, she shouted ‘Falun Dafa is the best.’ ”

“We should not allow the sacrifice of so many people’s lives for the sake of our short-term interests,” Lai said. He urged the international community to take a stand to help Falun Gong practitioners and to support them as they continue to uphold their belief in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
