DENVER—For an English businessman and his wife, seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts in Denver on Feb. 22 was an enriching element of their visit to the Rocky Mountain State.
Shen Yun’s International Company’s first showing in the Mile-High City this year was greeted with a standing ovation by a cheering audience.
Shen Yun, based in New York, is a traditional Chinese dance and music company with the mission “to revive the true, divinely inspired culture of China and share it with the world,” according to its website.
Mr. Peter Hitchen, who is the managing director of a London business that supplies essential oils to the international food and beverage industry, called Shen Yun “a wonderful spectacle to see.”
Shen Yun’s outstanding feature is a display of classical Chinese dance, an art form that is known for its challenging techniques, as well as its ability to contain the essence of Chinese culture.
Mrs. Laura Hitchen, who sees many shows back in England with her husband, called Shen Yun “the most beautiful thing I’ve seen on stage.”
Shen Yun’s dances express the variety of Chinese ethnic groups and the richness of traditional stories and legends.
Mr. and Mrs. Hitchen appreciated that they learned more about Chinese culture from seeing Shen Yun.
“If the tour comes to London, we will see it!” said Mrs. Hitchen.
