A Pakistani court in Lahore has ordered the government to lift a two-week ban on the social networking site Facebook.
But the court said in its ruling on Monday, that "blasphemous" content should continue to be blocked and measures put in place to guard against other offensive material, according to the Associated Press.
The ban was put in place when an unidentified user created a page called “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day,” generating anger and an outcry throughout the country. The page had cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad as well as other religious figures including from Christianity and Hinduism according to BBC
A group of Islamic lawyers petitioned the government to block the site.
In Islam, drawing the prophet is considered sacrilege.
Pakistan also blocked the popular video-sharing website YouTube for similarly blasphemous content.
