Island High School and Ruby Bridges Elementary School in Alameda County, near Oakland, were on lockdown on Wednesday due to policy activity.

The Alameda Police Department said that there was one person reporting shots fired in the area of Island High School.

“That report has not been corroborated. As a precaution Island High School and Ruby Bridges School are on lockdown, until the investigation is completed. At this time, there are no reports of any injuries. Again, this is a precautionary measure until we are able to confirm or refute the initial report.”

Soon after it said the lockdown it lifted.

“UPDATE: Island High School campus was cleared, the lockdown has been lifted. Officers are still in the area and are checking Ruby Bridges as a precaution only.

The alleged shooting is now being reported as having occurred in the area of Webster Street and Ralph Appezzato. More to follow.”
