A vault explosion in Huntington Beach, California on Monday has killed at least one person.

The explosion happened at Tisbury Circle and Mistral Drive.

At least one person was inside working and was likely killed, Huntington Beach Fire Capt. Bob Culhane told KTLA.

CBS reported earlier that there was definitely someone dead.

The Huntington Beach Fire Department said via Twitter that it’s responding to a fire in an electrical vault with a “probably fatality.”

It said about an hour later that the vault is “de-energized” and the fire is extinguished.

About 350 homes in the area are without power after the blast.

The cause of the blast is under investigation, and crews are working on restoring power.
