Police are investigating the deaths of two children who were stabbed in their Upper West Side apartment Thursday.
The alleged assailant was the children’s 50-year-old nanny, according to The Associated Press and other media. Police told media that the mother of the two children returned home and found the two children and the nanny in the bathroom near a knife. The nanny has been hospitalized in critical condition after apparently attempting suicide following the stabbings.
The children, a 2-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl, were pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital. The apartment building, La Rochelle, is near Central Park and the Museum of Natural History.
