The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the Washington D.C area this morning.
The snowstorm that has been hitting midwestern states hard, is heading east. It is expected to bring 6-10 inches of heavy snow to the Washington D.C metropolitan area.
The Federal government closed all offices in preparation for the storm. Some area schools are also closed. There are hearings in Congress today, but some larger events have been canceled.
The city has encouraged people to stay off the roads, but no driving ban is in place. The D.C area metro shut down train service, though buses continue to run.
